House and Grounds

The Home is an attractive period detached Victorian property approached by a tree lined drive, and that has been extended with the majority of the bedrooms in the purpose-built wings.

The home sits in well-established and attractive gardens and grounds of approximately 5.9 acres with a tree-lined driveway leading to a car park of around 30 spaces. There are attractive formal grounds to the immediate front of the property which include large lawn, feature pond, summer house, sun terrace and many full-grown trees.

Resident Rooms

The Glen Care Home is largely purpose-build and has a total of 52 bedrooms on ground, first and second floor for residents’ use, all with lovely views of the surrounding countryside or overlooking our gardens. Level access through wide corridors for easy wheelchair access and grab-rails is available to all bedrooms, bathrooms and communal areas, including ramped access to car park and gardens, and 2 lifts serve all floors.

All bedrooms are for single occupancy. There are 41 rooms over 12 sqm, including 27 premium rooms of over 15 sqm, which are suitable for accommodating wheel chair-bound residents. Almost all rooms have en suite facilities with toilet and washbasin. To provide an environment suited for high quality care, all bedrooms have electric profiling beds, usability aids and a nurse call system. Each room is equipped with night lights, aerial cable, nursing bed duvet, pillows, and covers, a wardrobe, bedside table, arm chair and chest of drawers.

Since individuality is at the heart of our vision, residents are welcome to personalise their rooms by bringing special photographs, mementos and items of furniture.

There is a hair salon and on each floor are nursing stations, communal bathrooms, shower rooms and WCs.

The three bright, comfortable and sunny lounges are well equipped with arm chairs and fitted flooring and have views of the garden. There is ample space to allow family and friends to be welcomed in a homely environment. French doors lead to south facing gardens with sun terrace, a large lawn, feature pond and summer house. When weather permits, residents can enjoy being outside.

There has been a recent addition of a sensory room which includes therapeutic lighting and a fish tank for residents to enjoy a calm atmosphere.

Dining rooms

The dining rooms are situated on the ground floor, and are connected to the lounge areas. Breakfast can be served in the resident’s own room. A continental breakfast will be available for those unable to eat at specific times. A varied menu is daily prepared in our modern, well equipped kitchen. Special needs are catered for as required, including diabetic and vegetarian diets alongside traditional home cooking, with the best local, fresh vegetables and produce.

The home is located in Evercreech, a small village, approximately three miles south from the sub-regional centre of Shepton Mallet, within the Mendip administrative district (North Somerset). This is a predominantly rural setting, with the local economy centred on agriculture and tourism. The location is ideal for guests seeking quality care in a peaceful, secure environment, while at the same time being able to enjoy the activities of normal daily life in a rural setting.
